Our visit to Ballindalloch Distillery
We had a lovely visit recently to Ballindalloch Distillery, just 16 miles from The Dulaig. Scotland's first Single Estate Distillery, Ballindalloch is built in the restored ruins of an old farm steading on the Ballindalloch Estate. The craftsmanship is obvious both in the distilling and in the restoration of the buildings - just look at this lovely old lock on the restored spirit safe.  Although it will be some years before the whisky will be ready to drink you can book an appointment a...

An "easy" walk on Skye???? I don't think so!
Gordon and I spent a wonderful few days on the Isle of Skye, staying with Marie and Ian at The Spoons B&B. The weather was lovely and we decided to go for a "little" walk on three hills near Broadford known as the Broadford Red Hills. He had reached the ripe old age of nineteen years, not a bad age for a cat who at just a couple of months old had been abandoned along with his brother, Claret, by his first owner.  We were lucky to have adopted them from The Cats Protection League and really enjoyed having both of them as our pets. Amber was a wonderful puss who did not even chase birds!  We will miss him very, very mu...

We had a great day at the 2015 AA Bed and Breakfast Awards!
Gordon and I had a wonderful time on 12 May 2015 at the AA Bed and Breakfast Awards 2015. Here we are (centre) pictured with AA's Giovanna Grossi and the CEO of Eviivo, receiving our Certificate as The Dulaig was a Finalist in the "Friendliest B&B of the Year" for Britain and Ireland.  We also received this lovely engraved decanter and we feel honoured to have been nominated by the AA Hotel Inspector.
