On 4 January 2011 we were lucky to see the partial solar eclipse, the first solar eclipse in the UK since 1999.

The winter sun rises later  in Grantown-on-Spey than in most of the UK so the eclipse was well underway as  the sun came up over the nearby Cromdale Hills.  

The weather was a little cloudy but Gordon was able to photograph the event, as you can see here.  What a great start to the day!
